Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions families ask us most. Don’t see yours? Call us at 404-618-0505 or request a consultation.

Getting Started

What ages do you see?

We work with children from toddlerhood through adolescence and young adulthood. We also offer autism evaluations for adults.

How do I get started?

You can request a consultation online or call us at 404-618-0505. Our Intake Coordinator will talk with you about what is bringing you in and help match your family with the service and psychologist that best fit your needs. Every service begins with a 75-minute consultation/intake appointment so we have time to really understand your concerns and talk through next steps.

How soon can we be seen?

Intake appointments are typically available within 1–3 months. We reserve some appointments for families who need to be seen sooner and also occasionally have cancellations, so it is always worth reaching out. Evaluations are usually scheduled within 2–3 weeks of the intake appointment.

Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?

No. You do not need a referral to schedule with us. If it would be helpful, we are also happy to coordinate with your child’s pediatrician.

Evaluations

How do I know if my child needs an evaluation?

If you have concerns about your child’s attention, learning, development, social skills, emotions, or behavior, an evaluation can help make sense of what is going on and what may be helpful. You do not need to know ahead of time whether testing is necessary. The intake appointment gives us a chance to talk through your concerns together and decide whether an evaluation is the right next step.

How long does an evaluation take?

Testing usually takes about 3–6+ hours and may be completed over 1–3 sessions. It is highly variable depending on your child’s age, needs, attention, and stamina. Every child is different, so we structure the day in the way that works best for them. We build in breaks as needed and do our best to make the day as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

How should I prepare my child?

We usually suggest keeping the explanation simple and positive. You might tell your child that they will be doing puzzles, games, questions, and activities with someone whose job is to learn more about how they think and learn. It is helpful for children to be well rested and to have eaten before testing. Please also bring anything they normally use, such as glasses or hearing aids, and have them take their usual medications unless you have discussed something different with us ahead of time.

When will we get results?

You will typically meet with your psychologist for a feedback session about 1–3 weeks after testing. During that appointment, we will walk you through the results, answer your questions, and talk about practical recommendations for home and school. You will also receive a written report. For some of our youngest children, feedback may be provided the same day.

Can the report be used for school accommodations, a 504 plan, or an IEP?

Yes. When appropriate, our reports include recommendations for school accommodations, educational supports, and standardized-testing accommodations.

Do you do school observations?

Yes. School observations and consultation are available when helpful and are billed at our hourly rate.

Do you offer Katie Beckett evaluations?

Yes. We provide psychological evaluations and documentation for families applying for or renewing Georgia’s Katie Beckett (TEFRA) Deeming Waiver.

Therapy and Parent Consultations

What kind of therapy do you offer?

We provide individual therapy using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral interventions, and parent-based strategies. Treatment is always tailored to the needs of the child and family.

Do parents take part?

Yes. We see parents as important partners in the process. Depending on your child’s age and needs, parents may be involved in therapy, and we also offer parent consultations focused on practical strategies and support for home.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Therapy and parent consultations may be offered virtually when appropriate.

Fees and Insurance

Do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-network practice and are not in network with any insurance plans. We are happy to provide a superbill with CPT codes that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

What does it cost?

The initial consultation/intake appointment is $375. Therapy and parent consultation sessions are $250 per therapy hour. Evaluations are $2,200 for children under age 3, $2,800 for children ages 3–4, and $3,500 for children age 5 and older.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. We accept HSA and FSA cards. All fees are self-pay and are due at the time of service.
